  • Cosworth starting issue.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this here but here goes.. After putting my car back together I can't get it to fire, it's on an l8 ecu 83lbs injectors wasted spark, iv got a good spark, injectors are getting a signal checked using a noid, 40psi fuel pressure when I'm cranking it over, removed injectors and cranked over and they are fireing but for some reason the plugs are not getting damp? Any ideas. All sensors are new and gapped correctly, as is the complete ignition system,I'm thinking ecu or chip fault? Even tho they were working before. Also the engine caught fire that's why it was pulled apart, no damage to loom as iv checked it.
Last attempt before I take it to a specialist ... Or scrap yard!

When cranking is the rev needle jumping like crazy...if so check that you didnt put wires wrong of the distributor sensor...first should be red than blue one...hope it helps

Got spark? Leads in correct position?

Yeah have a good spark have been over the leads a few times, the clue is in the plugs being dry I think as before strip down when it was running the plugs would get damp straight away if it didn't catch when being turned over.

I have tried swapping the relays but I have spares so could try that also, thanks.

                Try ignition amps

Brand new amps on there from msd, unless there's a faulty one, but I do have a tidy spark.

If you have the old pair just try them. I know they don't always like the wasted spark.

Tried 4 old ones and 2 new ones now and still have the fault! Have a decent spark now it's just the dry plugs is what's confusing.

Can you not pop a plug out fella and turn it over as if the fuel is squirting in you are going to smell it from that chamber also thought you could only measure power to injectors while cranking but not 100% on that

Yeah I've had the plugs out a few times, doesn't look like any fuel getting in the bores, I had a noid on each injector plug and it lights up, then had each injector out and they appear to be firing when cranking over! Also have 40psi fuel pressure, it's a strange one running out of ideas.

You say the engine caught fire? Maybe this has damaged something in the Ecu, have you a spare ecu you could try? And phase sensor is definitely set properly? Sorry had to ask as i had a problem where I thought I had it 100% but was wrong,

Iv tried my spare ecu but have the same fault but I used the same board and chip, checked continuity on the board joints seems ok. Also checked continuity on all major sensor plugs back to ecu plug, incase any damage and their all ok too.
