  • Escort Rs Turbo's

    Hi All,

Im getting the urge to get something to tinker with,

At first i was thinking XR2, problem is its not an RS! anyway they are getting thin on the ground, Ive got 5K to spend really and i am hoping i could get a reasonable one for that. What do you think.

there are only these two on ebay at the moment, Im not sure about either if im honest, what are your thoughts?

Funny I've had the turbo itch for over a year now and fail to see anything reasonable priced and let's face it Rs turbo s2 £5k plus up top 8-10k really not worth it.
These cars are cleanish looking on eBay in my opinion prob best available at that money you know there are prob a lot of issues to sort under neath they rot like fuck everywhere!!!!!!!!! Sill edges will be rough that alone is a heap of work that then spreads into money pit, from there cars that have had arches sills already filler everywhere and on the first glance look as above Been looking over a year now I'm not looking for perfection but somthing tidyish prob as you are but finding something to suite without spending a lot of petrol £££££ looking all over the country and that's the thing are Rs turbos worth all that hassle for your £££££

i did like the look of your XR2, but was a long way away and the modified bit put me off a little. would consider it again though if it came back up.

Yes I'm about as south as you can get in the uk!
The modified bit put me off, but as it's the american block it looks standard I think it's only the block which is taller everything else is cvh so looks like it should.
Other than that it has koni shocks everything else is standard, even has the standard radio!
IMO with paint it would be stunning as that's what it needs to take it to the next level.

I think the white one looks better then the grey one,

the grey ones drivers door don't look right, It looks a different shade of grey, may just be the picture, also the door looks as though its dropped if you look at the lines, also bee de locked,

I have another xr2 for sale if you interested

If your going to put money into a old ford defo make sure it's a RS car as all rs cars are on the rise and
If you buy a nice car and spend a bit on it you will get the return when selling again.
You can easily spend same amounts of cash repairing/modifiing a Xr car and it won't be worth any more in end.
I'm just starting a light resto on a 90'spec rs turbo and really enjoying working on it!
The white car defo looks better of 2 cars even if not a 90spec

the xr also Will rise, but sure a rs is better... I also finding myself wanting a rs turbo...

the white one looks "best" out from pics, but the grey is not too bad either... but pics can hide allot of both good and bad...

personally i'd rather go for the white 88 spec car, even if it meant sourcing the correct trim. the grey is better colour but the single wiper and delocked doors would put me off.

I agree with all you guys the White one looks better out of the two but it also has its faults... Maybe holding out for something a bit better is a better idea, I was secretly hoping someone knew or had looks at either but it doesn't look like that's the case.

personally i think the fiesta and series 2 escort rs turbo are nothing special and its because of the rs badge folk buy into the hype i had a black fiesta rs turbo h17 mrk and a series 2 imperial blue sprayed escort rs turbo e reg back in 2009 and i hated them both, so slow unreliable and so basic but looking nowadays i gave them away seeing as what alot of them fetch these days but its not the car it seams to be the badge that folk follow
i wonder if the 2 i had are still on the road, but if your into the rs scene then fair play its your money and what your into but just dont think there worth the money

Congratulations for missing the point totally now of owning a old RS they are all about having a nice one now and if you want something reliable and fast buy something new , nice cars fetch good money now and are as good as money in the bank , ebony don't take this the wrong way but choose carefully as you seem to always buy something that needs a ton of work the white car looks the better of the two
