  • Was my car jewel violet

    Hi guys

Picked up a solid ST shell today with lots of history, however its had a colour change at some point (which I was aware of). It looks to me like the original colour was jewel violet.

Is there any way of checking without stripping the paint back?

Reason I ask is, if it was originally a jewel violet car, I'd like to put it back to how it should be?

    Cheers

    Rich

HPI check should confirm if the colour has been changed, not sure if that gives you the details of the original colour tho.

Colour code on VIN plate should be T4 and the paint code FORD EUROPE JEWEL VIOLET PEARL XSC2741C 1993 - METALLIC

        Hi mate

I've got HPI which backs up current V5 as blue, however early MOT's all say purple.
As the motors out I've just had another look under the bonnet and although the paint job is blinding, in the really hard to reach places, it's jeweel violet.

Would goes be able to tell me if I call them with chassis number?

was Jewel Violet available on a small turbo? I thought it was only Monte spec? Although i think some BT euro spec cars were Jewel Violet?

I wouldn't be surprised if it was Aubergine with the colour Purple mentioned

Cheers for your messages guys, I'll get out and check the vin plate tomorrow and check. My other car is an aubergine one so it'll be the same code as that if it was originally aubergine.

It's just new project I'm doing that's all and with me seeing slight traces of a really bright pink by the bulkhead, it just got me thinking.

Also theres a photo of a pink car that is exactly the same as this, with the morettes etc but with show plates on in the history file and it's jewel violet.

If it isn't I'll happily leave it as it is, however if it was originally jewel, would it be worth repainting while the motors out?

I'm fairly new to the scene, are they rare?

If the car is originally JV then i would 100% return it to that colour. With regards to being rare, approx 25 made(ish) LHD & RHD
