  • Escos wont start

When I put the Escos away at the end of August it was all working and running fine just as it should

Ive started it it once since then back in November and it was still fine then , Ive come to start it today and it wont start , ive had the battery conditioner on it all winter and it turns over fine but it just wont fire into life

All ive done is got it onto axle stands took off the brakes and suspension ,s o not messed about with anything electrical or engine related

Not really sure where the fuel cut of switch is other than somewhere in passenger footwell , I can hear the fuel pump click into life but unsure if it is actually pumping

Anything I can check to see if ive disconnected anything or any other suggestion as to why it wont start

Where abouts in the footwell and is it an obvious looking switch...lol

Not fresh fuel but im sure if there was fuel in there (which there is) it should still start , ive had cars sat for loads longer that still start with the same fuel

You need to take the small plastic panel on the left side just under the dash off mate, it's the one that joins with the plastic sill panel. I don't know whether that makes sense. Would it make sense if I said where you used to get the speakers on Mk3 and Mk4 Escorts? And it's very obvious, it's a big red button.
          Cheers

Just read your post again and if you can hear pump priming before you engage the starter then it won't be that

I know you've said it already, but are you certain there's fuel in it, gauge on dash showing? Does it at least spit as its turning over attempting to fire?

It just turns over , no attempt to start

                          Is it BT or ST

If BT take the dizzy cap off and check for damp.
Whip out the plugs and give them a clean.

How long did you try to start it. After long term storage mine wont start for at least 5 attempts on the key. Its just fuel, it take time to get it back in the filter and lines, and a quick kick of the pump isn't enough after storage.
Constant cranking isn't going to do anything if its fuel, you need t let the pump build up pressure and get some fuel to the rails.

Its a ST , tried it about 5 or 6 time , a couple of the times it was probably turning over for about 20-30 seconds with no sign of it firing

                              OK.
I'm not sure I would give up quite yet. there's no point in long cranking duration , turn the key, let it crank over for 2 seconds and stop. Repeat until it starts.
I'd bet it was fuel related. If the car is dry stored and the plugs aren't fouled and it ran fine last time I recon you don't have much of a problem.
I would check those plugs btw just in case there shitty. I bet the last time you started it in November you didn't drive it around and dirtied up the plugs
Just a guess. If its not that then your going to have to start some basic fault finding.
                              1. Is the pump actually kicking.
2 Is there any fuel in the fuel rail/any fuel pressure at all.
3 Do you get a spark with a plug removed
                              4.Check ECU and pump Relays.
5 Do the injectors actually squirt.
