Starter motor noise upon starting

Hello All

Taxing the car today to use as of tomorrow but over the weekend when starting the car to move it around for polishing the turn of the key to start the car had the starter making a funny noise as if the key had gone too far....is this just lack of Winter use and will go away?

new starter last year with resto so im sure it isnt that

Car starts up though but just a bit concerned because its done it every time i start it up so far.

what can i check mate to see if thats the case.....all wiring connections and bolts etc?

I had this on the start up of my escort.In my case this turned out to be the little unit on top of the starter motor (solenoid?) which had come loose from the main body of the starter motor and was triggering incorrectly, this was on a near new starter too.It is only held on by a couple of small countersunk philips screws only accessible when the starter motor is removed.Regards Robbie

don't use wd40 or any lubricant on the inside of a starter!!!
all the clutch dust sticks to it leading to even more sticking problems!

use graphite if you need to..
