i put a wanted ad on passionford for some front 5 stud granada hubs and got a reply from a new member with no posts and no history offering me 2 brand new hubs complete with bearings, not just the flanges but the whole lot for £60 posted so i thought ill play along and ask him for pics, he then said he was on his phone and couldnt send any as it wouldnt work so i got him banned, then today surprise surprise, another new member with no posts or history offers me some front hub flanges so i asked him for pics and he sent me some of a pair of rear hubs showing a tape measure laid across the mounting holes obviously stolen from the net from someone asking for dimensions at some time
a quick look an google and i tracked the pics down to a kitcar site from 2010 so just beware if you put a wanted ad on there as it looks like some tosser is out to rip folk off again, ill have another word with tony and get him banned again

This happend to my dad last year on eBay. He was looking for a citroen hy van to restore and have some fun with, he found one that fitted the bill good condition ect and contacted the seller for more info he replied in the correct manner sending more pictures and seemed a really nice fella he said it was his brothers and he passed away so that was why it was for sale. My dad then paid a £3500 deposit through PayPal and the van was arranged to be dropped off at his house he never turned up or replied to any phone calls or messages. He contacted ebay for a refund only to be told it was a scam a fake PayPal account had been setup and he never got a penny back even the bank said there is nothing they can do pricks everywhere my suspicion is they are foreigners working in large gangs

If you use your credit card to pay your paypal you should be able to get your money back via the credit card insurance, although I think some card companies are stopping this by adding/removing this option/example to their terms and conditions.

                        Good work Nick
Sorry to hijack your thread but like cossimc I have also some bad experience with Ebay user.

I have bought some steel panels for my Mk2 Escort from Steve based in Dover. He and his business partner drive a business called Dover Cambelt Centre – a garage for old Fords, but not only. I wonder if they rip off all their clients like it was with me.

My story is: I had contacted Steve if I could send a courier to pick up parts (it took place even before I bought them). He agreed. The parts were bought and paid in full. I gave him full details like max measurements and weight of the parcel. He confirmed he will make the parcel like that. I have ordered the courier and paid for it, it wasn't cheap. The parcel was picked up on the agreed day but few days later it was shown on the couriers tracking system that the package was to big for their requirements and they send it back.

Mr.Steve did not answer to any of my emails for weeks until it was too much for me and I contacted Ebay Resolution Centre – the reply from the seller was here within 15 minutes. Mr. Steve says that he did not pick up the parcel which was send back to him and he doesn’t know where it is. And guess what? He said that all the scam he experienced came from outside the UK.

In my point of view he has my money and parts - I have the scanned signature of the one who picked the parcel up that day and its written „ TOWNSEND „ – it is the last name of his business partner, Barry.

Maybe there is someone on here who knows them? Steven Goldsmith , Barry Townsend - Dover Cambelt Centre.
I think I will visit him one day and teach him what is honesty.

Paypal, but it took to long to contact the seller - concentrated on this and I missed the term when I was able to get the money back from Paypal. My fault.
