Had the car in for its MOT today and they checked the emissions and the CO was 9% and the HC was 1450 I knew it needed a set of plugs but I didn't think it was that bad
I had that with my 911 carreras mot ,done less than a thousand miles and passed everything bar emmisions so I got some cat clean shite wopped it in and razzed up the m53 a bit lively and straight back onto the mot emmisions test and it passed no prob.. I'd give that a whirl cocker...
bring it over and ill first check that everything is working I.e sensor's etc. make sure they are setup right. check fuel pressure and anything else that could make it run rough.
then if it needs adjusting on the map can tune it to suit. will cost less than half of taking it to any large tuner due to overheads etc.
For sure check plugs but also the full ignition system , cap and arm if your still running them.
But also check your stat hasn't stuck open, these cars rely very heavily on engine temperature to set the correct fueling. If its running cool then the management will be trying to inject more fuel then required.
I would also check the ecu coolant temperature sensor make sure its reading correctly.
Hi Co is quite common with these engines especially if tuned, high HC on the other hand is indicative of un-burnt fuel, can be by incorrect combustion of the fuel air mix......plug gaps and or weak spark etc.
Check for air leaks on the MAP sensor pipe , a vacuum leak at idle will also make the car run rich.
Just a few ideas easy to have a wee look at.
