        • Thanks for all brake input. Very helpful and keep it coming. Please find here below an overview of the most common brake setups.

Exotics such as Lambo brakes in Poland excluded from the list, but we will have a look if the will fit or not as well.

Just to be 100% sure: what we will probably do over the coming 1-2 weeks is produce a mock up of the wheel in cartboard so I can send it around to anyone with big brakes to test if the wheel will fit their setup.

          • Can i state that i didnt wish to or want to hinder this project in anyway at all as i think the work gone into it so far is highly commendable. I just didnt want wheels to be put into production for everybody who is down on the list brimming with excitement for them to then not fit over what is a key part of most peoples cars, the brakes.

You have ruled out 378 discs so the next biggest im aware of is 362. If you go off the 362 disc mounted to a flat bell then all the other set ups smaller than this should fit

            • As with the original design, the style of the wheel does not lend itself to fitting wide calipers on flat bells.

So ruining the style to suit a brake package that is not used makes no sense.

Blanket support for every imagineable brake package is unlikely.

Jan wants to understand what is being used and what the possibilities are as far as offset bells and disc diameters are concerned.

Jan has asked me to get involved in the big brake question. I've had a basic look so far but want more info before reaching any conclusions.

All the in my part of the world have oem brakes so i'm a bit in the dark as to how they fit and clear tie rods and what not.

I'd like to see some pics of clearance to the tie rod balljoint on cars with offset bells.
              Cheers

              • I agree with john s post, looks like the design has some built-in contradictions with the really big brakes. Destroying the design would be really pitty. Will post a template for people to fit their own setup soon.

                  • I have taken Jan's template, and a Brembo Monoblock that fits 24mm rotors.

I have positioned the caliper as it could sit on 278mm, 330mm & 385mm rotors.

This caliper is 138mm wide, narrower than anything on the list above. The OEM disc is offset in quite a bit.

What is obvious from the pics attached is that none of the calipers above or this one fits behind the wheel unless the rotor can be offset further.

Now the OEM rotor is 4mm from the track rod boot.

Again I'm calling for some pics from those with big brakes showing the rotor versus track rod.

                    • Thanks, adding to that: we are working on some ideas to tweak the design to better host big brake setups, such as flattening the spokes on the back of the wheel, more banana shape spokes er even less dish (not preferred). Keep you posted. Nevertheless 6pot APs with flat bells will remain difficult.

                        • Just a quick question i have standard brakes on mine i am assuming that no matter what is altered these will fit with standard brakes. I have 9 X 18 Comp MO,s on at the moment with ET+20.

Yes stock and modified stock will fit 100% sure, the design as it stands now has a lot more space than stock wheels. The only we are researching is whether we can modify the design to host more space for 4 and 6 pot calipers.
