For both the china & uk option, are they forged, or cast, or billet, or some combination ?

what grade of alloy is being used in each, what heat treatment ?

Are the uk ones being made by a top teir wheel manufacturer ?

i'd like to here what a couple k gets in quality ?

    I keep thinking about 9's or 9.5's.
    Cheers

Loads of people have had BMW Csl rep wheels from china with no issues myself being one, they were great quality.
Just need a reputable company to do it over there

Not sure of the manufacturing process
But, before a UK made wheel goes into production
It will be tested to the max

Any UK wheel manufacturer will tell you this

I very much doubt the Chinese wheels will be tested at all as they are cheap
        But each to there own

        Thinking about it
I would go for the tried and tested version

Yes, I agree china and quality are not exclusive, just hit and miss.

I'm not aware of the exact standards uk wheels must comply with, but I bet like any standard some comply and some exceed.

I don't mind paying extra for quality, but the seller needs to state what that quality is. Have a look on any decent wheel manufacturers website, and they will tell you about the processes that ensure you get minimum weight wheels that are durable and comply with standards.

i'm not trying to knock either option, just trying to find out the value vs quality proposition of both.
          Cheers

I didn't know the current 18" wheels went through any testing?

You can't just go to an alloy wheel manufacturer and ask for a run of custom wheels to be made
              Unlike China
Any British alloy wheel makers will safety test any custom wheel before selling them to the public
This is probably why the cost of them is high

Any wheel maker will tell you this

In China they test AFTER they have produced something

If my company imports stuff from China, we are legally responsible for the quality, so we will test it too. Tested twice.

But seriously, I don't feel like defending Chinese production quality here. I only need one original rim or a decent quality 3D scan that can be done about anywhere.
18x9J inch delivered! New (and probably last) batch being produced as we speak - se posts here

                            Ok
Go for it mate, let's see the finished article
If you can get the exact same wheel

I would have a set, and you could sell them easy as this thread has proven the interest
Put a new thread up asking for a wheel

I also will see if I can get one
I know 2 members with them,
