Where exactly is the engine number on a cosworth 4x4 engine block? and how many letters/numbers is it?

I can not go by chassis number as the engine is a second hand item

Also is there anyway to tell if it is a sapphire 4x4 200 block or an escort cosworth 200 block just by looking?

    Thanks
    Marc

its on a cast lug on the left hand side at the back close to where the head sits
should be a letter and 5 numbers
should be the same last 6 didgits as the chassis number of the car it came from
