  • No oil pressure!

While driving home from the pod yesterday my oil pressure suddenly dropped to nothing, pulled over to save engine and called aa. Any ideas before I rip it apart? It's a new build only done 150 miles on a new protech pump. Sure iv read a thread about these protech pumps failing? Its a 2wd saff.

    Sorry to hear that mate.
Sounds like another knackered protech oil pump ,
but worth removing the dizzy, to see if the dizzy to pump driveshaft is still in one piece, if broken it will cause the pump to stop working.

Best of luck and good that you spotted it early.

What main bearings u got? I had a problem years ago, fitted fully grooved acl race mains and the pump couldn't produce enough pressure to run them

Can't remember exactly what bearings but was recommended them il have to look through my receipts. It's only don't 150 miles and was fine until yesterday on way home from pod, just hope it's simple fix and no damage, I did switch it straight off.

                        not good...

protecpump is most likly the problem, they have failed allot off them...

have to agree With cossiedavid, no bearing can have anything to do With loos of oilpressure, if they are not gone...

I had exact same issue with shells supplied by woodford garage
Grooved on both bearings so oil pressure couldnt build up they should be smooth one side and grooved the other

And before people start shouting i know some engines are built like that and work ok but im telling you now some dont and if you look in the osworth build manual it ststes it all in there and they designed the bloody thing

But im sure someone will still argue
But dont bother cus im mot realy interesting in arguing its judt an expeitience ive had

And mine drove about 150 miles before it lost oil pressure

So if its not the dissy drive check the shells thats All im saying

its strange, but maybe... but protec pumps have failed allot... so would change it, but the 4x4 pump is the worst... but maybe his 2wd pumps is no good either..

Just had a look through photos and the bearings are grooved one side only, I remembered this but just double checked.
                              So hopefully it's not that.
