    Can they be used in a 4x4 with the std gearing

    Dave,
    I would think the ratio, front and rear diffs need to be same on a 4x4. Something to do with it messing up the Transfer box.

      I have a 2wd in mine dave yes, from memory they're very slightly different but not enough to fuck anything up...

            Dont you have the modify the beam as the dif is wider ?

              Yes mate but i know for a 2wd beam mk one so i might have that and sell my mk beam

                Yes you can and you can do many miles in it like that as well. Its all ive ever used in my 4x4 Cosworth rally cars ( ive had a few) and the Escort Cosworth I built and I did over 60k in that. The ratio difference is so small the center VC can cope with it.
