  • small turbo question

On my small turbo the dumpvalve is blanked off and off the intercooler pipe there is a hole for a dump valve but it has a sensor blocking it? Any ideas what that could be???

    Many thanks

Need to see pics. I did replace my standard dump valve a while back with an aftermarket one and blanked off the original, but now I've gone back the other way.
      Cheers

If it's a sensor it could be a ACT or MAP sensor but not much else I would imagine? Both have alternative locations and would not normally be mounted in a boost hose though.

The ECT on the small Turbo is in the outlet side of the Intercooler neck
The dumper is in the turbo,

that looks like the act sensor, presume someone has fitted a diff intercooler which doesnt have the threaded boss on the inlet end,so theyve had to stick the sensor in there instead

Bodged is not the word for it!!! Spent 12 hours tidying up the horrific wiring under the bonnet, changing connectors to proper ones not bullets and then heat shrinking and over braiding for the receipts that are with this car some garages should hang their heads in shame

I will fit a dump valve in there but where should the top hose go to? The standard dump valve has been blanked off and no vacuum hose is apparant???

                        Many Thanks

the reference hose should go to the inlet, just don't tee off map or fuel pressure, i don't really advise the external dumpers on the EEC though, id just use the proper internal one and block the boost hose.

That air temp sensor should be in the intercooler neck.

i truthfully know fook all about these cars,

2 questions, has anyone any pics of where the hose should go to

                            and

why not use an external dumper??

                            many thanks

External dumpers don't work great on cars using a maf, as it measures the amount of air entering the engine and fuels accordingly, dumping this air to atmosphere causes strange fuelling issues.
