Was originally built low comp and done 512hp.... i took that engine to 50k miles across the UK and Europe at which point it was running fine but using a litre of oil every 200 miles I had a trip booked to the Alps which was going to be 2500 miles in a week and i realised i was going to have to fill the boot with oil rather than luggage lol so the decision was made to fully rebuild the engine which was done to a higher compression (standard iirc) and she did 554hp on the dyno this time
It's 99% a road car and no i don't kick the crap out of it the whole time i'm in it......i save that for when it's appropriate Anyone who says they do is either bullshitting or doing very low miles just going up and down the local dual carriageway !..........anyone that's spent any time in a car of this type of spec, especially in the Alps or Wales or Scotland or wherever will know it's a very physical car when your'e on it !! It will fight you and you have to fight it back........if you can do that all day you must be some kind of athlete as i find it knackering lol, though very rewarding when you get it right
Must be you he was telling me about then mate, can't fault that mileage on a big spec engine!

Yeah lots of decisions, problem with these things is u can never stop looking for more power, haven't had this engine mapped yet and I've already planned my next engine, never ending story!

thanx, very possible, I know a opel/vaxhaul engine here is going to try one, the engine have been trough several cranks sofar, including Arrow`s++ so they are going to try it and see... but a 4cyl turbo reving 9500, its not a shock With a mainiac behind the steeringwheel...

If they say a arrow crank failed, what exactly happened to it? Did it fail as a break or did it run a bearing ?

not sure, but will try to find out. I talked to the man that did the head last time, and it was him that told me, the owner/tuner was going to try a zrp crank in that to see, after sveral OE, dtm+ Arrow and others already had failed... and if I dont remember wrong, it was running around 650bhp on last spec...

              what he had been told
tought 1 had snapped, 1 probaly bent and had dug into the trustbearing + allot of other crank brands that had failed.

I would be interested to know what the failure was of he previous cranks especially the Arrow versions.
If you are revving much over 8500 rpm you will be on borrowed time with wet sump.
ZRP is some of the better of the Chinese products, but given the cost of YB engines, good luck anyone using them.
The Vauxhall XE ZRP crank I have seen twist like a cork screw.

                  Hi Steve
These Chinese cranks make a good boat Anchor . On a serious note, I know of a well known engine company who tried one of these Chinese cranks, it run a bearing on the dyno on the 1st power test , nothing was at odd with the build or the. Oil pressure or temps etc, they sent it to be re-ground, and it turns out it was soft as butter. In places!

Yes it would be good to see exactly what failed on the Arrow crankshaft , that is if it was a crank problem?
                  Regards piero

the owner is the same as building it, so not easy to find out for us what did happen...
