  • Borg Warner turbos

Just wondering if anyone can help me in choosing a new turbo, my engine has been build for big bourse power and I'm currently running 600bhp but the turbo I currently have on it doesn't hit full boost until 4000rpm. If I was to change over to twin scroll B/W first of all where do you think I would get full boost and should I be going for a 7670 or a 7664?
Oh currently I have a turbonetics single roller bearing turbo.

    Any advice appreciated.

Currently I have one called an S8 which plugs onto the standard loom thats fully mappable but do have a pectel t6 2000 to go on when I get time to sort the loom. Just not been too bothered so far as the S8 seems to work fine.
What turbo and ecu are you on then jules?

I have a twinscroll 7670 and not hitting full boost untill 4000rpm also... but its with a A/R 1.05 external wastegate. My guess with a 0.83 housing it could hit full boost sooner...?

T4 and P8, proper old school ! I keep thinking about an upgrade as people keep telling my set up is shit these days but the truth is that i'm really not unhappy with it as it works and works well imo

.......still can't help but think about it though, stupid really

Only asked about your ecu as was thinking that if i was to go modern on the turbo front then maybe i should follow suit on the ecu front too but then that's when it's going to start getting silly expensive and i'm really not atall sure it's worth it ! I know if i want to i can chase a Porsche GT3 RS down the road all day long if i want to so why bother messing with it really

EDIT : Unless the GT3 driver is really handy of course, in which case i'd probably just give up

Its all about the driveability, I thought mine drove well untill I jumped in magz' car, the important of boost area is in another league, then the pick up is fantastic, just give a bit of throttle, up it goes, change, up it goes, change, so easy.

Its hard to justify doing it untill you've driven one tbh, then I dont think theres any going back, a fast cars one thing, but one thats driveable and fast is another.

That would be my car Terry drove . 7670 will make more power around 600 on the right setup. I currently have a 7064 fitted and makes full boost at 33k. Not had it on dyno yet but should make around 520bhp with same amount of torque. My choice would be 7064 as it drives so make nicer than the 7670 lower down. Drives much nicer than a standard car.

Proper old school then but this settup was the b**locks in its day and still will be fast on boost ( Same dilemma as me ).

Good info so far, im trying to work out the best Borge Warner to have if i was to change as everyone seems to rate them. Dont get me wrong when my current turbo is on boost the thing fly's being 600bhp but the annoying thing is drive-ability ie if you are following traffic up an include when cruising you have to drop it down a cog to get up steep hills (below 3500 rpm) which takes some of the enjoyment away if you are cruising.

The main question is can i get a turbo that would give me 600BHP but come on boost earlier without having antilag as its a road car and i think that would get me arrested!

Like i emailed you a 7670 will do 600 bhp but at 2.7 bar of boost 8374 will do 630 bhp at 2.4 bar of boost and come in earler than what you have i can cruse at 70 in 5th and still over take with a press on the gas
                    sigpic

Built by my self dp motorsport 700.6bhp 520ftlb efr9180 2.4bar m.a.d mapped flat out is the only way

You got it wrong there a 7670 will do 600hp at 2.1bar.

You need to look at turbo speed and not boost level as you won't be able to get 2.7bar at max power level on a Yb. You can easily run 2.7bar at max tq.

My post clearly says it will do 600hp at 2.1bar. You need glasses
