  • Motor sport shells

What's the general consensus with motor sport shells been built up into roadgoing cars obviously they just have 2 litre escort etc in the log book but do people consider them is a kit cars or non-Escort Cosworth's as they weren't built in the factory and are they frowned upon.

I don't see anything wrong with it only that it don't say cosworth so there in my eyes not worth as much to sell on that why everyone who got one tries to buy cosworth Id

So if you get cosworth ID then it makes it worth the same as every other one if I understand that right.

Sorta I think it's illegal but could be wrong and you prob should say you can prob tell the difference between factory car and built up one

              I think it like this
If you own a escos that you reshell then as long as the 909 shell is built up with the parts from the original then it's legal but you cannot stamp the shell to copy original
As for the original shell with numbers if you were to reuse, you could not use as anything else unless it's a q plate otherwise it's ringing
Perfectly legal to reshell a car into a blank she'll I've no numbers as years ago it was the norm insurance company's would quite often do this if car was new enough and value of course
But as said they are less in money than the original but to be fair it depends what your buying the car for value or pleasure or modifying.

It would be for pleasure but it is not cheap so I wanted to do a few check first and see what people thought.

                  Buy on condition and spec.
Is it a fresh build new shell etc
Nothing wrong with a built car if it's been done right?its easier to maintain a moded car than standard as you can get the parts where as oe parts you just can't and there getting old so if needed they likely worn out or ££££
Many 909 have been built and you can't tell apart from a few differences, depending how it's been put together but then with today's market values one with id would still be worth while buying .who's going to spend 40k on oe car then spend 20k to mod it drive it properly I certainly wouldn't
