  • iphone geeks?

    Hello chaps

Anyone on here a bit of an expert with an iPhone? I have a 5s. Updated a few days ago and then a few days after that it lost its signal, just searching. Checked online and it was suggested to switch the carrier around on and off etc. But may carrier section had dissappeared in the settings menu???
Thought a full reset would do the trick it reset OK but now it won't connect to the pc. Just says unable to activate at this time?

Any ideas of a fix I'm or is it time for a new one?
If so has anyone got a 5s or a 6 for sale???

    Cheers

My 6 is going bk to shop Tommorow for exact same problem, that's crazy as well because I've never heard any1 else have this issue before, Mines comes and goes, I switch mines off, bang if against my knee couple times and then put it bk on, and it works lol

It's on ee it's due for replacement in the summer so out of warranty . Looking online it seems to be a bit common since the recent update. Is yours updated?
looks like I need a new one. So anyone got one for sale?

Try resetting all settings , this may mean putting phone back to 'new phone' setting
Disable data roaming mate and manually pick your carrier when switched back on , resetting it all should work and re start your phone , it happened to me and tbh my neighbour fixed it I'm just trying to remember exactly what was done but I'm sure it's as explained .
he removed my sim gave wee clean at same time .
it worked perfectly mate , hope this helps

I've reset all settings and now have it set as a new phone but now it won't connect to Wifi or ITunes......

Looks like I need a new one.

Just need to figure out if I should go to Apple and buy an exchange unit or take my chances with a second hand one off of Ebay?

              Cheers

ive got a 5s (also on EE)and it does some weird things - like last Monday evening in Portsmouth, I had the wrong reload reference and it decides it wont ring land lines!! just kept saying the number was busy - after no fewer than 30 attempts to get through to the office on three separate numbers and a load of cursing the office for being on the phone constantly and me getting sent away by the place because I was in the way I received a phone call from the wife on our house and it just cut me off as soon as I answered - so I rang her back on her mobile, no probs, rang someone else on a mobile no probs - rang another landline, busy busy busy wtf?! normally I just turn it on and off again and it sorts it but not that night, next morning all ok! I was told by the shop when I got my first one that I should turn it off and back on again at least once a week as they tend to do odd things otherwise
                one for the road?? ......

the turn on a and off thing is true, same for all apple products. Had to sort a colleagues Macbook Pro before xmas, turned out he hadn't turned it off for 3 months

We have around 35 iphones for work, and we took quite a few '5's back with issues dialing out like mentioned above - back and forwards between 02 and Apple, blaming each other. I ended up speaking to one of their tech guys who actually knew what he was on about, and he said to me

"Off the record, You're on the phone to much, basically not designed for 6 hours of calls a day"
