  • Panic Stations!! Update!!

Can't beleive it the fucking car won't start

Tried first thing and couldn't get it started, I have a T6 ECU and it won't switch on and start the car if the power is under 10v I noticed it was under 10v when cranking on the stack so took the battery back to halfords.

They tested the battery and said running at 40% (what ever that meant) and replaced it, the only problem is they have a battery with the same terminals (cossie has the square versions) but the replacement battery which had round terminals came with adapters soI took it

Went to fit up the battery and the bracket on the positive side that has fuses built in wouldn't fit so i had to mod it..

Anyway got them all fitted up and the car is still just cranking over but not starting they weird thing is my pectel monitor is not comunicating with the the ECU either and is saying check cables etc

With Frasers help I checked I've got 12v at the injectors and 5v at the map sensor, the ecu hairbrush has 12v and ground so what the fuck is going on?

I've checked the cables on the battery and can't see that i've upset anything, problem is I have no idea whether the problem was deffo there before I changed the battery.

Left the new battery on charge for now just incase its something low voltage related

Seriously do not need this two days before Central

    Call the AA

They'll either get it going or it will be very amusing to see what he says

Some of their blokes do actually know what they're doing ......... and then there's the others

      is it sparking the coil?

have you checked that you have a switch live to the ecu from the ignition/ imobiliser
as the ecu only sends the earth out to the injectors someone could have done your loom with perment lives to the sensors, and the ecu feeds the earth through....

if you dont check your imobiliser

have you relays on the ecu loom are they clicking?

is the fuel pump clicking in?

check the cranks sensor and wiring connector! also the lugs on the crank pulley no shit on it

      check ignition amps!!

have you left a wire off the battery by mistake?

is there fuses on your wiring loom?

have you knock a fuse out of place in the black box that sits on the battery?

is everythink else working on the car?

i had a problem with mine at ford fair 08 the battery was a bit lazy and when we got to silverstone i turned the car off and half a hr latet went to turn it around and it was not having it about 3 hrs later i tried again and it fired up so i left it.
roll on later and i was the last car leaving the show ground and i was cacking myself if i could not get wolfy started but fook me it did and we fooked off sharpish. it got all the way home and when i turned it off it was dead

Its on a Coil Pack so may need to check it

ECU has a switched live and there is 12v at the injectors

            how do I check it?

have you relays on the ecu loom are they clicking?

            yes they are

is the fuel pump clicking in?

            Yes pressure is good

check the cranks sensor and wiring connector! also the lugs on the crank pulley no shit on it

            Will do

            check ignition amps!!

            T6 doesn't use them

have you left a wire off the battery by mistake?

            I've triple checked this

is there fuses on your wiring loom?

there are trip switches and both are ok

have you knock a fuse out of place in the black box that sits on the battery?

I've given them all a wiggle and they seem ok

is everythink else working on the car?

everything else other then the Pectel Monitor its got to be related

wanna try my sierra battery just to rule that out? You didn't trip anything when you changed the battery did you?

I might need to check another battery

wiggle all the wires in the engine bay Paul, i have had a non starter and done that and its gone.
also has it got petrol in it

paul have a good look at the earths on the ecu and on the pectel monitor also check the earth off the battery does it go to the engine properly? the wire hasnt come out the crimp on the gearbox while wigiling it to fit the battery?

put a jump lead from the earth on the battery to the engine inlet manifold to rule this out.

have you check for a spark on each lead individualy?

are the spark plugs clean? no fouled up....

                        so the pump is priming?

if you put the test leads on continuity do they beam in the injector loom plug on the earth wire and the other to the battery while cranking?

have you moved either crank position sensor or cam sensor recently? are the gaps ok?

Paul, when you noticed on the stack this morning that the voltage was below 10v, was the pectel monitor working at this point?

if so then its got to be something youve Caught/Missed while changing the battery over surely.
