  • rev counter with wasted spark

    Hello,

I changed my system to wasted spark with the complete set from MSD (new wiring looms, additional board (P8), etc.).

Everything works fine except of my rev counter. There is simply nothing. Are there any additional thinks to do with the rev counter itself? I thought that it should be enough to add the board into the ECU.

If not, I have to check the wiring once again like described in the manual.

Have you done the solder link on the tacho itself?
    Regards James.

??? I don't think so, maybe I ignored it in the manual?

It should be in there, if not email steve@evolutionchips.com and ask for the tacho mod instructions,

You need to do a solder mod on the back of the tacho, but it doesn't usually stop them working all together just makes them bounce about.

Make sure you have the tacho wire plugged into the correct socket, match it up with the grey wire soldered into the ecu inside, usually pin 21, but others can be used if you have air con. This will be the White wire you plugged into the ecu plug

The other thing you can do to bypass everything is run a wire from the tacho driver wire on the ecu, usually pin 21, and run that straight to the green behind the dash clocks, see if that works.

Failing all that, the inductor on the driver might need to be changed.
        Regards James.

Thanks a lot for the mail adress. Steve sent me the information very fast. Saturday 2 p.m. we saw the first results, it worked fine

By the way, the mod on the back of the tacho was easy to do like you said
