I would get a genuine one, not an alloy one.

The name of the actuator comes from the spring used,
The proper -31 and -34 springs are conical, when removed they look triangular, as far as I'm aware only the genuine actuators and the msd ones which are made by the same company use that Spring
The alloy ones use a normal Spring which isn't conical so they are not really -31 or -34!
                Regards James.

Will the spring shape make a difference though James.

It makes a difference to the operation against pressure for sure, the proper springs are progressive, where the others are just flat.

As example when a small turbo escort is fitted with a msd chip they are programmed only to work with the -31 and the controlled overboost doesn't work correctly on any other actuator
                    Regards James.
