  • Koni front suspension set up

I'm really sorry if this has been asked before.

I've owned my escort for a few years and at the moment I'm going through a few little faults with it. One of them is that it tends the knock the inside edge of the front tires out rather quickly. Having had it checked the camber is close to -3 deg. This is manly due to it being lowered I'm sure. I would quite like to increase the ride height of the front by 10mm not only to help reduce the camber but also square it up a little as the front has always been relatively low compared to the rear.

The car is on Koni front and rear but I'm unsure of what springs. As I say the rear is fine but does anyone know a way of increasing the ride height at all? Of course really I should buy some coil overs I guess but if there was a way increase the preload on the front springs or any other ideas I'm be grateful to hear them.

      18".

How are they being mod'ed? I was looking for maybe a spring seat to preload it slightly.

If you use std Escos front shocks they have a higher spring seat than the Koni's which have the same height spring seat as Sapphire shocks

              Thanks everyone.

I have shocked the shock and its not bent where it goes into the hub.

Dave, can you tell me how much higher the standard shock spring seat compared to the koni, and where would I get a set of stock front shocks?

              Thanks you.

It's not about Koni shocks vs standard shocks, it's that Sierra 4x4 struts give a low ride height on an Escort. With Koni shocks for an Escort it shouldn't be a problem.

I don't think there is a different koni part for the Escos.

There is actually no front Koni shock listed for the Escort. I'm quite surprised by that.

Ive looked best I can and I can only find a koni part number for a Sierra. Nothing for an escort. So, if the Koni shocks do indeed have a spring seat 10mm lower than a standard Escort shock I've found my missing 10mm of ride height. Guess I need to junk the Koni's and get some Escort specific shocks to sort my ride height etc out.

If you fit other "higher" springs, the ridehight will rise, if you hav loweringsprings on IT now.
