  • Pay monthly road tax question

If you pay road tax monthly , when you declare sorn does it automatically stop the payments or do you have to cancel the direct debit ?

I wondered this as I thought it read you entered a 12 month payment contract? Take it you can stop it if you wish?

I know you can set up a direct debit with DVLA on a Friday, drive all weekend, call the bank on the Monday and cancel the direct debit and not get charged a penny but the car will show as taxed all weekend. Great if you only use the car a couple of times a year.
