  • Transit Custom M Sport

Ok so this has nout to do with Escorts but I'm sure I've seen a few of you have a Transit Custom M Sport and was wondering if you could help.

I'm getting an M Sport on Tuesday and so far only Flux will insure it as they class it as a modified van. Long and short of it, they want over £1,400 with 7 years ncb on that policy.

As a comparison my current Transit Custom Limited 155PS cost £400 to insure.

Who are you guys using to insure the vans and what kind of £££ are you paying?

        What's the reason for changing,
I only ask as I've a new custom limited waiting to go on the road (also getting Gibby to fit a kit soon)

I'm changing it as I like the look of the M Sport, current van is nearly 3 years old and they fetch silly money. I had every available option and managed to steal it for £20k + vat for the L2 H1 310 155ps.

It now needs new front tyres and front pads, has many light scratches (it's black) and I still got £14,500 + vat. I'm vat registered so that means I've lost £5.5k in nearly 3 years. If I had paid tax and NI on that money then I'd have only had £3k in my pocket. Now you see why I'm quite happy to splash out on the M Sport.

Been a great van though, only bad points are sat nav is not very good (but works), standard sound system is shit (easily sorted with new door speakers, bit of Dynamat and an underseat sub) and the heated windscreens all seem to fail on half of the screen.

Mine also had to have an upgrade to the front doors under warranty as the early ones had weak check straps and the doors would open too far and bend the wings.

What kit are you getting fitted? I didn't think you could by an M sport kit without a van.

To be fair we buy any van offered over 14, and the px figure was close. Don't think you will get an L2 310 155 with every option for 16k+
