  • Converting lhd to rhd

Hi guys, looking for some advice. I'm looking to convert my lhd 1995 lux escort to a rhd. I'm wondering if any of you guys have done this? One of my main thoughts is the battery tray from left to right as it looks like it's going to sit at a different height on the shell? Any other advice apart from dash steering rack and scuttle panel would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

I'm pretty sure you have to change the whole bulkhead to a RHD version, don't think you can convert a LHD just by moving battery tray and drilling a few holes

Sell IT and get a rhd... Need all rhd parts, (loom, rack, brakesytem parts, and bulkhead++) not done in few houers if done correct.

The bulkhead upper half is unique to the escort cosworth. A normal escort one can be used but there a little narrow around the pedal box hump area. The lower part is Sierra, so you would need a Sierra lower half. This shouldn't be a problem to find as a std saff or xr one is the same.

I have fitted a std escort one before. Would be better if you could find a doner ecos front end.

Also worth considering that if you have a LHD in The UK it may be a good time to sell with the current exchange rate?

It is not only new exports that do well with a weak pound. Old cars especially LHD ones can then sell well to Europe?

A colleague is very close to Corvettes and Camaros and he says you always see a movement to Europe when the £ crashes as all his vehicles are LHD.
