Focus RS v Escort Cossie

It was me!
I did post up a request for the car quite a while back.
I now have a standard BT car owned by a member on here to fight our corner and have approached Roger Green from EVO to get this underway again.
Initially John Barker was helping me with this and was very interested in running the car but since Roger has taken over and said it needs to be a Escort V 'another car of similar style but still in production' things have gone quiet and I haven't had a reply back from the mag.
I will keep you all updated on progress, if there is any

Ah cheers Mat. Did wonder if it was you in the other thread going by the spelling of 'MAT'.

You'd think the obvious was an RS500 version of the Focus for the other car - same test as before ....but different - gives them a chance to see if the the RS500 was any quicker than the normal RS Focus as well

Mat, what does Roger consider to be a "similar car but still in production"?
Because the FRS is not similar at all, and ford never made anything like the escos since. (4pot.vs.5pot, fwd.vs.awd, etc)
Or does he want to put it against another similar car from another manufacturer?

maybe thats what made ford try harder on the next one

i would choose the escos hands down over the FRS, and i think you're right a 300bhp escort would beat the 300bhp focus surely!

Thats the clip I was thinking about, top gear did the same test but in a drag race and the Escos won again.

I do like the Focus RS (Lime Green), but am sooooo happy with my Escort RS!!

Some points regarding the yellow Es Cosworth used by EVO mag...........

Firstly apart from the amazing colour I wonder if it was a good example of an Es Cos to do the comparison with?

For a start I recall pics of the car at Dunton with a warning sticker inside.........EDIT: now found the image:



Then if you look at the EVO mag picture set, you see the quantity (low level) and condition of the fluid (oil/water mix) in the header tank



Might explain why they used the original (archive) performance figures.

They even said in the mag that the Escort had a head gasket issue, so kind of completely defeats the point of comparing a sick car with a brand new one LOL.

this alwas arises and gets many views but for me escos better and faster. wen my car was used in redlines old vs new feature against 390bhp focus down santa pod mine wiped floor with it, 0-60. 0-100 and over qtr mile and i wud beat it round track no problem.
