...obviously i am taking my 3dr to touring car bhp and braking...what about suspension..my front end has been modded by kaliber dont ask me how but its relocatedon just uprated shocks...so what setup would a touring car run, i understand they had to stay close to road spec in beams etc? What type of shocks coilover what?

You mean they fitted the front ARB off a Sapphire Cosworth?

                Mike,
If you look at the gap between the front edge of the front wheel and the trailing edge of the front bumper on normal 3dr (side on), you'll see a large gap, which shows that it has the original 3dr front ARB fitted. As you suggest, this does not achieve enough caster, and therefore has high speed stability issues.

If you look at a genuine RS500 from the same position you'll see that the wheel is MUCH closer to the front bumper. This is because the RS500 had a different front ARB that pushes the wheel 12mm further forward and gives a full degree of extra caster. This removes the inherent stability issues and was often retro fitted to many 3drs as a FACTORY modification. In fact the design of the RS500 ARB was carried over to the Sapphires, hence why many 3drs have these fitted .

The ARBs are even marked (so Phil can see which one he has fitted ). The standard one is H13 and the RS500 / Sapphire one is H14 . You can read these off the right hand upper surface of the bar, adjacent to the TCA abutment.

And to think Phil thought I was just winding him up .

I remember when I fitted the H14 to mine and it made a huge difference...................(not an 18k one though)

I didn't know the ARBs were marked Mike - good info

I knew why they had done it on the Sapphire - they increased the -ve camber on the front a smidge as well to make the most of the caster as they knew the Sapphire was going to be a bit slower responding on the front because of the 74mm roll centre drop.
More stable under braking on bumpy roads as well according to the contemporary road tests thanks to the increased self-centreing effect

All I can say is the wheels at the top are more in than STD so I guess as you corner the more tyre you get so better grip....will check that mod aswell mike as this car was used for letting people experience what a touring car might feel like although half the power and variable traction control

Do you know what the geometry settings are on the car currently Phil? Would be interesting to know i.e. Front toe, camber, caster, rear toe and camber etc

Is the saff H14 anti-roll bar going to make that much difference?

I have already got Pro-flex struts fitted, have got some adjustable TCA's to fit, is it worth doing the anti-roll bar before getting it set-up, will this make the car more stable and what sort of setting should i be looking to get for mainly road and some track use??

                            Thanks

Yes it will - it's a must have on 3drs!
