I also own a 3dr and my saph has cost alot more than 9k but i dont moan about it. Truth is if i wanted an escort i would have one. I had the chance of an M5[older V8 version] the other week and the money was sat there but they dont interest me so i didnt bother. My mates run around in Porsche 911's, M3's, Skyline GTR's, RX7's, Evo's, M5's etc but i have the cars i have because I want them.

The thing to remember is you chose to tune your escort, no one twisted your arm. If you feel you should have spent your money else where, then just say it no ones going to have ago.

People tastes chance and its different strokes for different folks, so if you are not happy and would prefer an M5 etc then just sell up and buy one.

eg, closed loop, wasted spark, Fuel swirl pots 2 pumps. big baffle sumps, metal headgasket....

any modern performance car has these items standard or there not needed...

i think i'm going to drive my escos as more of a show car from now on not a race car.. as i dont want to keep pumping money in..

the m5 is a complete steal at that price no one can deny that surley what a piece of enginnering, i bet everypart on the car is speced for 600bhp for reliability!!
            Dom,
That extra 100bhp on the BMW is a mere 20% increase, you have increased the power of the Escort by 100%, so of course you have to spend money on changing the standard parts LOL . Imagine the cost of the things you would have to change on the BMW if you gave that a 100% increase in power . Also, imagine how reliable your car would be if you only increase the power by 20% .

            Mark,
Here's the family at the Ring :

On this trip, it even included push-chair and fold-up cot as part of the luggage .

450bhp even with 4wd is more than enough power to push the Ring taxi around (and overtake it and leave it for dead (admittedly they are always four-up and short-shifting at 7000rpm, but still it was not a problem )).

just had another read of what mike said and it does make sense about how tuned my escos is...

but a few years ago the escos was probly one of the cheapest ways of going fast by tunning it up but 10years has moved on! and now its cheaper to buy a car standard with the same power.

i do love my escos i'm having a shit week with it. its my birthday today, and my mums going to pick my friends up bring them over and were gonna get a cab into town

it would be nice to pick them up my self in my 17k car..... but it fucked... can you see my point....

                        Dom,
I can see your point, but I am always advising people to buy right, by once. Many make the mistake of buying something they think has saved them money, and it turns out to cost them twice, as they buy the cheap part, fit it, realise the reason why it was cheap and then buy the part the SHOULD have bought in the first place. It never seems to stop people though .

...its a bit like my saff, once was an awesome car no doubt when saffs were ok to own at a younger age...now i am getting on the bits need to go in a proper cossie...the 3dr

I still get more of a buzz in my daily driver merc though...that sound, power, braking force, handling now modded is so much better than a cossie although i love my 3dr and use it occasionally when i want to be abused

Mike i cannot understand you pouring that kinda money into your car when you could have owned a GT3!

                              Phil,
It's called having a passion for a car and all that comes with it - something you would know NOTHING about .

You forget I get to drive all sorts on a regular basis (including a variety of Porsches), I know for a fact that once the novelty had worn off, I would be bored if I owned something like that. Half the fun (for me personally) is taking a "pig's ear" and making it into a "silk purse" . Turning up at a track day with something like you suggested gives a certain amount of expectation. Turning up in 15 year old Ford shed and kicking supercar butt gives me wood .

...me not an enthusiast?...i just spent 13k on parts for the 3dr......my point is my priority was always to have a proper reliable everyday supercar i feel i now have this...mike has just the escort...if i was a track person i would have a GT3 and then the escort being developed..if funds allowed...priorities..we all have different ones.
