  • Hong Kong Cossie has arrived at last!

Some of you may recall a few months back I had bought my first Escort RS Cosworth from hong kong and have since been waiting for its delivery. Well, after several weeks of waiting for customs to sort their lives out, it has finally arrived!

Here it is after a quick rinse off to get the muck off it :

After this it was lunch time, so decided to go on a little drive from here (just behind the red corsa).....

.....to here... lmao the burger van! A whole 1/10th of a mile

Afterwards it was time for a quick inspection underneath. As was expected no rot anywhere!!!! Even better though was that the undersheild was still intact and there were no creases in the floor where some careless muppet had jacked it up wrong! The paint on the Anti roll bars is still fresh!

There are one or two minor bad points though :

    Both front indicators broken.
    Passenger side fog lamp broken.
Small dent in passenger door and rear quarter.
Minor scuff on rear bumper and whale tail.
Drivers sun visor broken and missing.
    Front splitter broken.

On the other hand, the engine and gearbox are in tip top notch condition! Having been stood for around ten years, I was expecting noisy tappets, smoke, squeeky belts.... not a hint of any of those. Starts first time every time with minimal effort from the starter motor and hums along so quietly I wondered if it was even running!

Next up is an MOT and a Uk registration. Then we can start the real work!

Change all the belts IMMEDIATELY, as a cambelt failure now would be a nightmare, and the rubber corrodes rapidly with that little use... .

          Lot of potential there

Can't make out if it's mallard or ash black

Is this where your 18" standard rep alloys are going ?

Id change the brake hoses as well, use something to condition the weather strips/rubbers and other hoses around the car.

Hi, my first post here. I'm also from that small island known as Hong Kong. There's probably less than 5 running samples left in Hong Kong and this one, I've never seen! Looks like it's in tip top conditions so congrats on your purchase. Mine's been in storage for 2 years now and time to get it out and have it registered! Keep buying them from HK and I might end up having the last one left running here!

Dave what has it cost you in total mate for the car? Including things like Import Tax. Shipping, Registration Fee's and of course the car etc?

By the way, I think the Ford Splitters are no longer available mate, so it's pay top money on ebay or for a second hand item and take a chance, or you could get a Matt or a Gloss finish Carbon item from Mike, you could also paint the carbon say satin black if you really wanted to!

Dan, Bought the car for £6k cash done. Shipping would have been around £1700 but have done a deal with a good mate of mine to cover this... (Basicly im building him a big spec YB in return with a good T34 hanging off the side of it) Duty and tax is about another £1500 but being vat registered I claim that back.
