  • Alarm Help Please ASAP!

I'm getting fucking annoyed with the shit alarm and WANK wiring I'm sure it comes with on the car!

Ever since I've had the car I've had a problem with a flat battery, NEVER once have I been able to walk up to garage, open the door and drive off normally, I've always had to jump start the fucking car! I've had the battery on charge for days and it won't hold charge so now it's fucked I've had to put a decent one on there which has just cost me another £50!

Now the car starts lovely and on the button, the best it's ever done so obviously Simon wasn't telling me something as I did find out he used to keep the car on a trickle cooler! Unfortunately I don't have this luxury!

My problem is now that I've put a decent battery on the car a weird locking gremlin seems to have come back, a couple of you may remember that at Central day when I locked the car on the clifford key fob the bloody rear wiper started doing constant sweeps of the rear windscreen and wouldn't stop! It's now doing it again tonight when I lock the car and I don't want it to keep going all night until it fucks another decent battery!

I can press another button on the key fob and then lock it, this cures the rear wiper problem but something else is making a noise from the engine bay, almost like the sound of a fuel pump priming but it deffo not that!

WTF is going on, I'm pretty close to ringing an auto electrician my Dad uses at work tomoz and having the fucking lot ripped out the car! I might have to pay £40 per hour labour but at least the car won't act up like a fucking useless peice of crap! I hate aftermarket shit and shoddy installation of things, OBVIOUSLY Simon had a problem with the battery getting drained, fucking nice of him to let me know!

Any suggestions please if I can reset the alarm or something before it's gone for good within the next few days!?

Have tried to replace the fusebox with a new one?
It can cause many kind of symptoms and it is very common problem with Escort's.

      calm down calm down

i had a cozzie a bloke tried buying off me that had a clifford that went wonky all the time,he had tried buying the car of the previous owner and had seen it chuck a strop in front of his very eyes, i turned it off by putting it into valet mode.

50 sheets for a battery doesn't sound dear babe, i use a transit diesel battery as they are the best a man can get imo.

mine runs down so i just keep a 10 mil handy and disconnect it,no probs there for me but i do leave mine for long periods.

you know your supposed to service a clifford alarm don't you babe

The sound under the bonnet that sounds like a pump priming I am sure is the old alarm mate, see if its still connected, maybe worth getting this taken out, Mine would do it everynow and then randomly but would shut off after 1 minute. Might be the standard imobilizer as well... worth a look. What make alarm have you got?

          Dan,
It sounds like you have a tracker fitted, as if not trickle charged constantly, then mine does the same thing within 2 weeks. This is because the battery back up on the tracker robs power from the car battery to keep it alive if the car is not being used.

You have NO choice but to trickle charge it, if not you could find that not only will the battery on the car be fucked, but the battery on the tracker .

I have a Clifford, but it has been properly installed. The only time it false alarms is if water gets in the bonnet switch / siren after I clean it .

                PM sent regarding this.

Thanks for the help so far guys, I need to use the fucking car abit within the next 2 weeks, meant to be meeting Fast Ford with it Wednesday, then Cornwall show all weekend and then MOT next week so I can't be doing with jumping it off a pack that I've had to buy everytime I wanna drive it!

I'm slightly calmer now Karl but not by much! £50 for a big old Bosch battery is good, it's father/son rate from Dad's work!

Mine is flat within 10 days if not on an Optimate or run for a while. I put it sdown to the Tracker/Clifford zapping the power. Make sure all the fan switches and radio are off if you are leaving it for a few days. It tends to buy some time! (Don't ask me why! )

As for the wipers going off......

WTF, I've never heard of that before? I take it the switch for the rear wiper isn't made when this happens and it's somehow operating under the ignition because of intellistart/turbo timer inadvertantly kicking in. Just a thought!

dan you could offer fast ford 2 for the price of 1, you get your mucky car cleaned then get someone to sort the alarm out for a feature. bout time they did a alarm feature with whats best.
i personally like the idea of the intermittant wagging rear wash wipe, makes the car look happy to see you
