Is it worth doing the shopping trip across the channel at the mo given the strength of the Euro against the pound ?

depends on what your after and the quantity, its still that bit cheaper than here

if your after tobacco/fags then its only cheaper in belgium, the ferry and mainland france are the same
I do a car park shopper each year for £20 to get my tobacco, you don't get off the boat you just literally drive on in England sail to france, watch every other bugger get off turn the car around so your first off in England and sail straight back again
fags are not much cheaper, well they weren't last month

I'd be bringing back Beer, wine and champagne for the little un's christening. Plus fags and tobacco to shift on to cover cost's. All within personal allowances, seriously. When you've been pulled in and searched, it's not worth the hassle.
