  • Cam spacers/shims info please

    Hi

I'm putting 4x4 cams in a 2wd head and need to know the measurements of the spacers/shims. Gonna have a local machineshop make them for me.

If anybody know this then I'll be a happy man

    Tore

i thought the only difference between the 2wd and 4x4 cams was the spacers/washers at the front of the cams, and that you only need them for the 4x4 engines.
so if using the cams in a 2wd then you should need them atall!!

if that makes any sense atall? or maybe not

      the spacers are 5mm
I have some genuine cosworth ones £20 a pair
alternatively you can use the collar off a 2wd cut it in half and machine both halves down to 5mm

The spacers in front are supposed to be slightly diffrent, as is the bearing, but the issue is that 4x4 cams are slightly longer from the first lobe to the bearing so the cam is allowed to move front/back. hence needing a spacer to hold them in place

the bearing and seal sits directly in the head on a 4x4 head and does not fit in a carrier like the 2wd and therefore the bearing is 5mm further back in a 4x4 head
