First of all I had to go back to work after three weeks off on the back of four hours sleep, but then the real shite started!
My wife phoned me in tears just after lunch to say that my boy Matthew (some may have seen him talking a lot at Ford Fair/Central day!) had been knocked over by a car and was being rushed to hospital. After shatting myself, I dropped everything and told the boss I was off home again and made my way back up the M1 (thankfully keeping calm enough not to top my 9 points up!) to Kettering (Longest hour and a half of my life! )
I got there just as they had finished giving him a thorough examining to be told all was well and apart from cuts bruises and a massive lump on his nogging he should be fine, but would need to spend the night in the hospital due to the head injury.
He decided that I would be staying with him so I ended getting another 4 hours sleep just before starting nights tonight! (small price to pay - I'm just glad he'll be ok! )
I can't believe it, he was with his uncle and younger sister and is usually really good on the roads but it's shaken us all up quite badly, especially as my wife was driving down the street at the time and saw it happen!
He didn't do it by half's either, it was a Volvo 850 T5-R that hit him (Thankfully doing 20mph! - or things could have been very different )
Tonight apparantly he was hopping on his bad leg to show Mum how much better it was, so it looks like all is indeed well.
For those of you with young ones, keep an eye on them, it's the last thing I would have ever thought he would do!
