  • NHS - RANT!

Spent 2 hours in A&E tonight for nothing. Whilst using a hammer and chisel this afternoon a bit of metal shot off andd hit me in the arm. Once the bleed calmed down, I could see it was a puncture wound and obviously not beeing able to find any metal I assume it was in my arm.

I wasn,t that fussed but the missus kept nagging "if it gets infected", So I gave in and went to the hospital.

After an hour I was X-rayed. Half an hour later, a student doctor examined me , showed me the piece of metal in my arm on the X-ray and said "it's not affecting your arm. so we'll just leave it where it is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    What about a Tetanus jab?

No it's a clean wound. and you said it wasn't rusty metal, BUT come back if it becomes infected!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a waste of fucking time

I'm not happy about it and now thinking about getting a second opinion tomorrow. But it didn't help that the X-Ray showed a foreign object in my left index finger that had been there for years

The reason's for not removing it would be,
                  1. student doctor,
                  2. almost shift change over,
                  3. it's lying in skin tissue and not stuck in muscle or a tendon.

                  4. Our local hospital is a training hospital and they probably didn't have a clue how to remove it. It has flats on the site for the student nurse and doctors.

The other thing is the Woman who X-rayed me is a relative and she said they'll cut that one out but I'm not sure about the old one in your finger. I think I should call her tomorrow for some advice.

But the comment "come back if it gets infected" and no Tetanus jab finally convinced me the NHS is a waste of time and money

PS did you know that X-Rays now go on a computer system and can be pulled up at any access point in the hospital

lol, went to A&E with my ex a while back over her little boy having a head wound. Usual story, we wouldnt let him sleep. At 11PM (we had been there 7 hrs) it was well past his bed time, we were told its now ok to let head wounded people sleep.... its only a problem if they cant wake up.... I MEAN WTF???????

mhs are shit mate, i collapsed on monday and had to get an ambulance to get me as i couldnt stand up due to dizzyness was so bad, they examined at home before taking me in, i was waiting 2 hrs before being seen too, had a quick check over, and founf out i had menatl health issues in my doctors notes so wasnt pleased about that, then he said they will give me some tablets to calm dizzyness and need to check my blood pressure, this was another 3 hrs, i was the only one n a&e at this point, after that they gave me a ewg i thing it was monitoring my heart pulse, then said they wont give me tablets but to go see my local gp as they dont know whats causing the dizzyness

so emergency appointment at docs, she was not impressed they didnt give me any frm of tablets or a discharge letter, and she gave me aprescription for sme drugs as it tyrns out i have a viral infection from a cold causing the part of brain to swell up to cause the dizzynes and should clear within 2-3 weeks

If the NHS are so rubbish as you all seem to think, why don't you go private then?

Oh yes that's right, you have to pay

I have nothing but praise for the hard working under funded under paid staff of the NHS, if it wasn't for them I would be dead at least 3 times now.
