if you insure a stage 1 [say 270-275 bhp]most insurance companies arent bothered and the price stays the same, however if you go to stage 2 then they normally add an extra 25% or similar, this is fair enough if you have a big turbo model as it could mean another 65bhp or so,now the thing is where does a stage 2 small turbo come into this? do you insure it as stage one and plead ignorance or pay the extra whack for what could be just an extra 20 bhp?

what's the difference Nick, if its just a chip then they won't know the difference unless they read it, but if its a -31 and chip then that could be a different matter as its slightly easier to tell

doubt if they will ask to see the fuel pump but then you could just uprate that on your standard car if the old one needs replacing

I think its better to tell them the mods & power output so they can give you the right quote. I wouldn't bother with Stage 1, 2, 3 etc.

My one is classed as an escort cosworth modified as i told them i had different wheels on when i got it and was unsure if that was all that had been changed..

So they said we will just class it as modified

Good thing is i could be running 500bhp and they could not say a thing as it is classed as modifed

It only cost me £380 this year as well with a £15000 pay out if she should end up the wrong side of a bush or get nicked and with brake down cover eu cover + windows

            TOP JOB

I dont think they go on stages mate, they will ask for the mods etc... then might ask for what boost its running and what BHP you think it is, then they will prob say we will insure it for that BHP, if its anymore than that, insurance is invalid!

Becareful what you put on the net, as I am sure insurance companys keep an eye on these kind of sites
