  • Insurance - whats your excess??

My insurance is due for renewal, i've just turned 25, got 5 years ncb, driving for 8 years, clean licence, never had a claim etc.
I'm getting quotes that i'm happy enough with £440 from aviva but everybodys excess is so steep, aviva want £700 as do most others, rac want £850, Whats going on....????? And it makes no difference changing the volentry amount.

Cheers ben, I cant remember what it was last year but was no where near those prices
Yeah I decided to get a tvr in spring instead it would drive me mad having one sitting in the garage and not getting to drive it.

are insurance companys going bust these days?? with excesses like that they really are trying to discourage any claims Id imagine a lot of youths with crap cars will have excesses higher than thier cars value

yeah I'm sure mine is very reasonable as that is one thing I always try to get down as much as possible
Good man I think you should keep the escos, and know what you mean its hard enough leaving the escos in the garage let alone keeping a car in their that you haven't driven

I was really disgusted by the excess that are being loaded on, there wasent one on moneysupermarket etc below £500. My insurance renewal went UP with elephant, thats customer care for you, I've turned the magic 25, another years driving experiance, another years no claims, another year owning the same car and they rewarded me by wanting £750 or so, I promptly phoned them and said i would not be renewing with them!

Mines garaged as well, in a dammed secure one at that, keep asking insurance companys if I get extra discount for all the garage security / premises but they wont give extra discount for that
