  • Im new and have an important question...

Hi there. Im new on here but have been on passionford for ages.

I've wanted an Escort Cosworth since school (I'm 26 now), but can't afford to be spending 10k+ on a car.

So i want to do it the slow way. I want to buy an Escos Shell with Log book and build it up over time, making it mint in the process.

I know it will probably cost more in the long run, but i thats the only way of doing it.

Now then. You lot are the experienced Escos owners. Where could i buy from? What to avoid? Tips, tricks any reason why i shouldn't do it this way?

    Thanks alot

    Billy

if you are prepared to do it that way mate you'd be better off just putting a bit of cash aside as and when you can afford then just go and buy one..... you might even have one sooner than you could build one

Build one yourself, at least you will know it's not full of rot or bodged up everywhere!
          Oh, and welcome.

billy i have done it the hard way

my first rs was a stolen recovered mk2 rs2000 lhd from hewitt international salvage in brum.
i owned it and it was mine all mine and i slowly got the parts to put it back into a road worthy condition.

i know exactly what you mean about a bit here and there and theres loads of stuff you can buy that don't cost much to get it all going and looking good,a bare shell is a great idea but imo one with as much panels and trim minus mechanicals will be easier in the long run.

remember if you buy at the right prices you can sell at the right prices if you have to get rid.
good stuff is like money in the bank imo

Wenny has a shell for sale at the mo for cheap and you could get a cheap saph 4x4 for the running gear etc and you would be half way there

I'd rather build one up over time as i could make sure it had 0% rot and could get bits powder coated and new bolts etc etc...

Also once the car is finished and its a genuine RS then it should still be worth a fair few quid in years to come, especially if its a straight mint one.

RsNissan did you mean... What can i spend on one?

Ben, thanks for the welcome ill give Wenny a shout, cheers.

igotblueblood and Cozzfather. I think its going to be the best way building one up, as you say you can ensure no rot a that everything used is proper.

                Cheers

I think I would save up for a complete one too, it'll be a real nightmare trying to find all the bits now, and you won't be able to just go up to Ford and get that elusive bit, because a lot of them aren't made anymore and people want bonkers money for some of the rare bits.
                            Cheers

                              have a peek at Wenny's.

if your a PF regular of old then you may recognise the shell as being Gatecrashers old car, its Mallard if your not aware

other than that, helloooo and welcome
