How do you check Gearbox oil?

I have been told to keep an eye on the oil in the gearbox as they are known to throw oil out at high rpm (above 6000) through the breather.
What is the best way to check once underneath the car & is there some kind of syringe for topping up?


I am not a mechanic but i do own a Ford!

I think you just fill it until it runs out of the filler allen bolt.

you will need on a ramp and rermove the plug in the middle of the box top up oil and leave till it stops dripping 8mm allen bolt
