I inherited a Clifford alarm system with Blackjax on my car but i have no instruction book with it The Blackjax part of it has been causing SCS some headaches to say the least Is it possible to put the B-jax or whole system even, into valet mode for when it's at the menders !
I have a little switch on the centre console and although i don't know what it is, it has been suggested it may be a valet switch......... any suggestions on how the switch could be used to get into valet mode would there be a seperate code to the B-jax code or what...... i dunno, have'nt got a clue really

That does look like the valet switch on a Clifford alarm Julian. If you press it the other way, is it sort of spring loaded. If it is I would guess that's what it is. They are coded so you press it so many times on the spring load, then back to the other way and if it's in valet mode then the alarm warning light should stay lit constantly. You can change the 'code' though, as I did on my old car, so unless it's with the factory setting (which I can't remember) you're still going to have problems.
    Cheers

      Hi Julian,

On mine once you've tapped in the last digit for your code you leave it in the lock position. This the puts the car in valet mode.

You can get the user manuals from here

Will have a look at the link in a bit.

Not quite with you Andy Which button are you talking about the bjax switch or the valet switch - so i code in the bjax code as normal and then do what ? something with the valet switch Not sure what you mean by 'lock position'.

Yes Trev, that switch does spring return i think

Minds a toggle switch one way locks the other way doesn't. When putting your code in your tap the first digit amount on the spring side, then switch the switch the other way which locks down. Then tap the next number etc. When you've tapped the last digit I can leave mine in the lock positon (this is then in valet) mode.

Hope that makes sense, I've only once switch which controls the alarm and blackjax thou so yours might be different.

That is the valet switch then mate, it will have a 'code' associated with it, basically it's the number of clicks you have to do to get it into valet mode. The lock position is when you have entered the 'code' (the number of taps) and then pressed it over to the position you've got it in your pic as I remember. Then the light will come on. You should then be able to turn the ignition off and the light stays on. The next time you turn the ignition on it should clear and start.

PS Will the switch sit in the centre as well, rather than being sprung one way and then pressed down the other way? Because as I remember my code was 25, so what you do is turn the ignition on, centre the switch, then quickly tap it 2 times against the spring load, then centre it, then tap it quickly 5 times against the spring load, then click it to the other side (the lock position). Then if the alarm light comes on it's in valet mode.
It's just knowing what the code is.
              Cheers

My Valet code is the same as the Blackjax code, once you've entered the Blackjax code you should be able to get into the menu for the alarm to disable blackjax.

I have to do this evertime the car goes anywhere without me driving, service / MOT etc.

Is it not easier to press the button on the side of your fob twice then press the top button on your fob and your flashing red light goes to being permenantly on

That's how valet mode works on mine, although i dont know for sure which type of Clifford system it is

You are right the Valet code is the same code (there is only one code)
There are three positions to the switch Momentary (springy side) Centre and Latched.
Enter the code you normally do (key in on position in ignition first)
Then put switch in Latched position & the LED light should stay lit up permanently which indicates valet mode.
In valet mode the car will behave like the black jax has not been fitted

When doing the above is that just the Blackjax in valet mode with the alarm still operating as normal or does the whole lot go into valet ?

Do you know which Clifford you have?
The valet mode dose stop everything, but depending which Clifford you have - it may reset its self when the ignition is turned off /on.
This is more common on the newer Cliffords -judging by the old type of switch you should be fine
