  • who's taken a Transfer box apart before?

I would like to take my old box apart to look at the transfer arrangement. In the manual it says remove the bit the prop doughnut bolts to, but I'm not sure it's necessary to do that??

Anybody know, just want to split the transfer case and check out the chain etc. This old box did the same as my rebuilt box in the car is doing now!!
    Cheers, Kev.

I would only attempt to do it with gearbox removed from car and then the box stood upright.

It may come apart OK while in car, but to build it all back up again and re-seal the case you will need to do is as positioned in the pics below.

In answer to the topic question: YES I have taken one apart, but I could'nt work out how to get it all back together again.........Bara had to re-assemble it for me

      Cheers Doug,
I have my old one off the car in the shed, I can practice on that!!

I have an annoying rumble on the over run, especially in 4th and it's ruining driving the car to be honest.

It also did it on the old box too, so I can have a look at that and try and find out what it is. Although I probably already know its the chain being too slack.

Although I do have an uprated gearbox mount on there, which everyone says not to bother with - I tried a 'new' standard one and the gearstick moved all over the shop (especially with the 6 paddle clutch)

Tried 2 types of uprated mount too, vibra and one of the new floflex ones.

As soon as you give it the slightest bit of throttle, it goes away - let it off - grumble grumble!!
      Cheers, Kev.
