  • Cossworth RS specialist wanted

Hello, my name is Fin from Germany. I got an RS Cosworth from an old gentleman. He bought it in 1993 at the age of 58, it's a 1992 model with a bag in the trunk. The car is first hand. Karmann stamped a false chassis number into the body of the car in 1992. They marked the old one with XXXX and stamped the correct number underneath. There is also a letter from 92 about it and the car was registered to the previous owner with this letter and the new chassis number 1992. The car has now run 36,050 kilometers.
The car is in original condition, leather Recaro seats like new and the large wing on the rear. The engine has a blue valve cover.
Is there anyone here who can find out something with the chassis number?
what is a car like that worth? Where is the best place to buy a car like this?
    Thanks

Does the chassisnumer start with WF0BXXGKAB? Can you see the one that has been crossed out as well? If you PM me the numbers I can check them in the Ford system and see what info I can find there.

Wow, another car just like mine.

My Escort is the same, and is a LHD imported from Germany. (I’m in the UK) I believe mine to be a 1993 model, as this is what is declared on my V5 registration document. There is a VIN number which has XXXXX stamped through it, and then another VIN stamped below. If you check under the driver’s seat (LHD) you will see a 5 digit number had written onto the chassis and this is for the VIN that is stamped with XXXXX. I can actually work out my number which is stamped with XXXX as I can see it. The VIN which is not stamped with XXXXX matches the 5 digit number on the engine block. Mine is WF0BXXGKABNC?????

Can you please let me know what that letter says, as I don't have one with mine.

It would be great if we could find out why these cars are stamped like this.

      Cheers
      John

He has the letters WF0BXXGKABNS..... Only one of the chassis numbers in his letter are known in the Ford system, its October 1992 mallard green lux with leather Recaro interior built for Germany.
