Anything action, Sci Fi or animation has to be Blu-ray, comedies, etc don't matter. I buy everything on blu-ray now and have replaced some films Ive really enjoyed such as Equilibrium, X-Men quadrilogy, etc as they have good effects
I used to work at a cinema, so believe it or not its spoilt my enjoyment of the place. I notice all the problems with the prints, such as sound faults, neg marks, tramlines, etc and stops me paying attention to the film in places
i notice shit all the time in films which is a mare, even trace has started doing it
Try being paid to watch for faults, you notice fucking everything I said to the Mrs half way through a film "Can you hear the sound dropping out of Dolby Digital" and she said "There's nothing wrong with it" Shows just how much people fail to spot unless you visit the cinema a lot like yourself.

pmsl.bad aint it.i dont spot loads but some stuff i do.i think they hope the awe and volume of the film take peoples mind from it
Most people dont notice things as they think "Its normal"
Like the "fag burn" in the top right corner, most people think its a scene change in the films, but it indicates a real change. Helps you indentify if there is a problem with the film which reel needs replacing.
Tramlining is a constant line down the screen, like a long scratch.
Neg marks are the black dots that appear now and again.
There is also reel joins from the manufacturer which we used to cut out, but Ive not seen any other cinema do this and always spot them, they are like a big green bar that flashes up from left to right on the screen.
I will watch it at some point, few people have said its good
Why don't you ask round your local cinema's? Only problem is your not always watching films, it can be VERY boring waiting for films to start/finish and the 3am finishes on Fri/Sat are shit I used to have a good laugh with the old staff till I got my health problems and couldn't go in, which ruined the job.
Its just like any retail position tho, you get shitted on by other staff. I once needed to take my son home on a Sunday night for school the next day, but the rota was changed and the assistant manager never told the next person to cover that he was meant to come in, so I was stuck there. Phoned the assistant manager, manager and district manager to see what I can do as I need to get my son home. The manager said "Not much I can do, there is no buses on a Sunday", District manager said "Its not my problem, you will have to stay there" and the assistant manager said "I can't come in, im busy". The Assistant manager turned up 2 hours later as I didn't give him much choice.
The assistant manager also complained once, as a joke "Don't let me work with Stephen, he doesn't let me do any work" and our manager went balistic at him The truth was if I let him do any of the work we would of been out later that night as he fucked everything he touched up
Forgot to say: My manager wasn't impressed when I said to the auditor "I wouldn't look at that computer with all the gay porn he has on there" Apparently my manager went into the office screaming and shouting "I can't believe he said that"
pmsl nice and friendly there then. i couldnt do it anyway tbh mate the late nights would ruin it with me and trace i reckon.and i have the dogs to think of too.
