If the deal comes together it will be a ST, so it is what it is, but happy to invest in new management & turbo etc.
Can any of you recommend who is best to speak to about what parts need to change to increase power to 400 ish BHP. Do you guys think 400bhp is good usable road power or more ? I've done big power, and it lost the fun factor & wasn't usable on the road in my opinion - but it was big big power like 1600bhp+.
I hope you dont mind me asking for your opinions, but there must be so much experience and knowledge on this site which will certainly help me not to waste money etc ..
Again thanks for you help
I have done lots of st on aftermarket ecus and are amazing cars. It's sensible to know what you are aiming for when you start out so you don't ruin the car for what you want it for.

Hi Mark,
Id appreciate any advice you can share with me regarding whats the best way to go etc, what power are you running?
I personally prefer the ST over the BT when they are in standard form - it picks up more quickly.
When buying I viewed and drove both, in the end I went ST as I decided I wanted the latest car I could find, mines in the last 100 built. I wasn't bothered about performance as i'd modded a YB before, more looks with this one but knowing that it is the final version of the YB with the better block, spray jets, inlet ect means that if I do want to up it I have a good base to work on.
11 years later I've left it standard as I like the way it drives, mines oddly 240hp too rather than the 227 as standard. Not sure why that is, only has a mongoose on with a cat present.
You've got the best base car for tuning imo, the ST has loads of improved, and more reliable parts from the factory. The only other difference between bt and st in the end is the cost of tuning, but if you want to do it properly, and not cheaply then you'll be fine.
Best suspension, BAD to MAD spec, by far the best. Combine that with a 6deg rear beam, 400hp ST engine with aftermarket management running a BW turbo, and you'll be in cossie heaven.

Interesting, thank you.
so in your opinion nothing else needed really to run 400bhp - no internal engine work ? - exhaust, induction, inlet, injectors ? - i appreciate every upgrade can certainly help, but generally speaking it already has the parts needed to withstand the power?
Well, that's up to you, but, youll need a new ecu, id port the head, but you don't have to. Id add water injection to save messing with the intercooler, unless you don't have A.C... gearbox also would be a good idea, but not necessary, id go AP organic clutch and heavy duty cover, std airbox, you've got the best inlet on the ST engine anyway, injectors to suit the upgrade, and a handmade exhaust and manifold to suit a BW turbo, but even then you could use a T38 and a LT manifold, just won't be as responsive, or drive quite as nice.
It makes for a great road conversion, and a fast A/B road, car.
