In regards to aftermarket ac, I'm in the process of completing mine which consist of the factory compressor (rebuilt), new expansion valve, aftermarket parallel flow condenser and drier. The drier I'm using is a bit different from standard which will require some sort of mount to be made. Besides that I've been able to re-use almost all of the factory pipes except for the ones from the condenser to drier, and compressor. It's not been as difficult as expected, had some threaded mounts welded to the alloy radiator and used pop nuts on the chassis to mount it all. It's all pretty tightly fitted you can imagine having an RS500 intercooler but it does fit! Waiting for a new pressure switch then I can check for leaks (hopefully none) and have the system charged.

Probably have less than $500 including all the new parts, custom made pipes and compressor rebuild.

I also tired removing the pipes from the factory condenser... that did not go well so I left it alone as I didn't need them anyway...

Hi Guys, I just came across this post and I'm also in a similar boat, trying to replace my worn out aircon for my Oct '94 N5F engine (it must have been actually on the facory conveyor belt during the actual switch-over from large to small turbo models, given the various anomalies it has). The condensor began leaking soon after I got the car back in '99 and I've never been able to source anywhere since who stocked anything like the right parts (why did Ford have to use such a totally unique parts?), even back then, same for the dryer bottle, which I understand has to be replaced at the same time, especially if unused for so long. Again that's proved impossible to source also. Does anyone know of places who can remanufacture identical replacements (I'm not interested in modifying and shoe-horning etc), say using my parts to copy against? Are there any stockists, say abroard who might be able to help? Thanks!
