  • Ford 2008 Radio Cassette Faulty

Has anyone had any experience of having these repaired? I’ve had the car to an auto electrician who says there’s power going to it, another guy has plug them in and checked them externally from the car but both the cassette and CD player are not lighting up, seems strange both have died at the same time, any help would be appreciated as the car is getting sold and the buyer wants them working!

Might it be one of the interconnecting looms between the CD player and the casssette player that's faulty?

Yeah, hopefully the guy doesn’t change his mind, just want it away now tbh.

I've done a lot of work on the later 2008 - is that the one? If it's the earlier one, I can't help. As the 2008 controls the 2040, I suspect the 2008 going faulty would perhaps make the 2040 appear dead too. I have a couple of spare 2008 here (mainly it's capacitors that go on them through age) that have been repaired, though with both, the Cassette deck doesn't work. The deck is easily changed though, so if your cassette deck is OK, it could be swapped over into one of these if push comes to shove, and at least I'm not far away from you.

I’m unsure what model it’d be Jim, how would I find out?

theres a guy looking at it just now who’s meant to be good at repairing them but time will tell, failing that if you’re selling one I’d be happy to buy one off you

If the CD is a 2040 it will be the later one - if it's a 2028, the earlier one. Early one looks a lot different to the later one, so if it looks like this, it's the one I'm good at fixing:

If it looks like this one below, though, I'm clueless!
