  • Radio Help.

    Hi All,

So I've never had the radio or CD player working in my Escort. When i bought it the amp was missing.
I bought a replacement amp of ebay and have set out now to get it all working. All the leads seem to be in place.
I do however need codes. There is a number scribbled onto the side of the 2007 head unit of "3008" Is this the code?

For the 2040 CD unit I cant seem to find anything written on it. How do I go about getting a code for ths?

    Cheers,
    Evan

Sounds like 3008 would be the code for the radio - they are normally 4 numbers. On the 2040 though, I suspect you'll struggle. Not sure that the usual radio decoding places can even do it. Might be worth asking previous owners if they have the little card with the numbers on that came with the car (assuming these are the original units.) I know Ford used to be able to come up with them, but not sure that can be done now.

you can try it but i doubt it will be the code as lots seem to have numbers written on them, still , nothing to lose

If it's not the code, at least radios are easy to decode.

Thanks for the replies gents. Previous owner left it in an open shed and not started for 10 years so doubt he minded the card you refer too!!Never got the owners manual either Any other ideas what to do with the 2040 . Buy one with a code?

So its turns out that the scribble on the side was the actual radio code. Just have to try sort the 2040 now.
What does everyone elses standard setup sound like? Was stereo quality really that poor back in 1994...i wasnt impressed to be honest!

There is an old school car audio installer near me who can recode the CD players, he re coded my 2028. I can send you his phone number if you want it but you’d have to travel to Kent or post the CD player.
