    Low mileage ST at auction:

    https://www.silverstoneauctions.com/...s-cosworth-lux

They estimate £37500 to £42500 + their usual massive rip off 12½% + VAT "buyers premium" So it'll be interesting to see what it actually goes for.

In fact, they have two in the sale - an even lower mileage one:

    https://www.silverstoneauctions.com/...rt-rs-cosworth

Estimate for that is £65000 - £75000 (plus the ripoff) but it's a bit molested, whereas the first seems closer to standard. Wonder what they think dictates the huge difference in estimate....

I wouldn't ever buy a car from them due to the "premium" and I guess I'm not the only person that is put off by that, so I dunno why people give their cars to these people to sell......

So is the vat on both the auction bid and buyers premium or just on the buyers premium alone?

Maybe the price range is based on the sellers expectations, or how low the auctioneer talked them down too! Afterall the auctioneers just want it to sell, they don't care much about the final figure.

Do they charge VAT on the full purchase price or just on the 12.5% element.

No VAT is only on their ripoff fee, so let's say the hammer falls at £50,000. To that gets added their pound of flesh at 12½% = £6250 and VAT on that = £1,250, so you end up paying £57,500. £6250 for very little work by them! Nice work if you can get it. "The Market" is a far better place to buy and sell.

Oh, they care A LOT about the final figure - the higher it goes, the more their cut is!

Final figure is secondary to ensuring it sells. They don't like reserves, the lower the better.

Too many people got caught up in the crazy values and bought them as an investment. Now it seems there being sold and not all for the price they thought they were worth . There are still the exception to the rules though.
As Paul from Need2Insure told me there just not selling atm for the crazy valuation prices. Ive just renewed my insurance with him and we have set a value of 45k and no more.
Personally I wish the values would drop to the level where they were bought for spares at least we could keep the cars we love running. I never for one second thought about re sell value when I bought mine.

I repeatedly wonder how much mine would sell for (IF that is, I ever wanted to sell it!)

Keep getting tempted by a 997 turbo but know I would regret it

People panic selling and cashing in
expecting the bubble to burst due to Covid
