2wd vs 4wd!! My cossie surprised me!!

I had a nice play last night with a 581bhp r33 gtr v spec with a 2.7 stoker kit, it was still a twin turbo with 4wd, we got to a lovely clear stretch and we went for it side by side from 30mph to *30 and my escort held second gear along side him, we hit 3rd and right by the top of 3rd he had about half a car length in front, as we changed to 4th the cossie was sucking him back in!!! i couldnt believe my eyes!! really nice bloke as well, had a a chat with him after, he couldnt believe how quick the cossie was!!

the funniest thing was i was only holding 1.9bar boost as i have a weak actuator also running a bit rich with 11.1afr with a safe retarted map from msd!!

i reacon with 2.3 bar and 11.5afr and some advantace timing i would of had him!!

i was proper chuffed lol 4wd system must have drained his power and weighed him down to much!!

i had a play with my mates r34 gtr ruuning 440bhp and i had 350ish, bot had full cars, i could out accelerate him but caught me up soon but then it was neck and neck and he just started to lead the edge of me, then my windscreen seal flew out and caused a few problems so had to stop but i was surprised at how heavy the skylines are or when theer rolling they need a lot of mid range power to go fast

i could have played with a new focus rs the other day but my engine wasnt warm and
a ......didnt want to thrash cold engine
b........i have a misfire until warmed up
c........i hate losing

i want to try and push mine to 460- 480bhp once it goes to be tuned, then i think i'll reach the grip limit of rwd and i'll just leave it at that !! at the moment i can get all of second gear down with out spining, i think it will make go road car as less transmission loss and weight but keeping the power at a level it does burn out..

not much good though when your knocking your pipe out and a 90 right into flat left maybe over crest warning slippy is comming up. ----!!!!

i would be still concerned even with the 4x4 system on that type bend with it pined!! i had my rear lsd lock and dangerouly throw the back end right out, by complete surprise!! all the front wheels did was drive me at the kerb at a fast speed!! after that the 4x4 was gone!! nearly banged my 20k escort on a corner i had done faster in my old rs turbo about 100 times!!

i always said il own a skyline gtr, cossies are great but unless you have been out in a 600bhp skyline cossie are nothing ive never been in a car that can launch so hard and rev upto 10k in every gear

i will owna liner after the escort i think unless mustangs have come down price by then

ahh ive started the 2wd 4x4 debate with myself again 2wd will save me loads of money and be massively fun but the 4x4 is a escos and will be safe ecs
