  • anyone gone from a tt38 to a gt30 76??

    whats it like??

my engines is all singing and dancing for a tt38 and will probly do upto 470bhp on a tt38 if the boost was wound right up as nothing would restrict it... but i'm thinking would the car be faster with a gt30 on the road..??? running similar power?

    cheers

From what most ppl say it should be quicker on spool up and produce more power then a T38

Quicker on spool up, produce more power and more responsive in general

well i had a T38 on my engine, it started off with 408 bhp and 413 tq/3500rpm on a T34/63 on dyno ran like this for years and loved it then went for a T38 and was less responsive, less kick and just didnt feal 1/2 as quick only good point was it kept on going and pulled right up to 7200rpm in 5th and the T34 started to run out over 6500rpm but as a road car it was just crap and thats why i went for the gt30/63 as i wanted the kick that i had before but with the top end power as well and now i love it and if i was you if the car is just for road i would get the 63 back and not the 76 as then it will make boost quicker and be better on the road and you wont lose much top end bhp if pauls results on the dyno are to go by but if its for track then get the 76 or evern bigger 82 ? i think as the back pressure will be lower and better suited to full power for longer (as you do on track)

        cheers

imho there is no difference spool wise between the two, just the gt 30 makes more up top and comes in with more of a kick

the t38 is a very smooth turbo (UT/HG one btw) designed for 440hp and kind to transmissions, also for the turbo to fill the gap between t34 and t4 in the day,

it is a good turbo imo

....yes i liked the ut t38 but was quite laggy with the t4 exhaust wheel if that has any bearing on it lol....it felt like a T4 car, but then my old escos on the t34 .63 was quite laggy.

i had t34.63 on mine with -34 running 2.2 bar it had nice kick but i wanted more so went for gt30.82 over a t38. in middle of fitting it now hopefully can report how it is some time soon- if still not enuf will also be fitting nos and waiting for transmission to break then replace if it does. quik pic here mate.

Gaz, that looks like a GT3076 with a .82 Exh housing

a mate of mine was running on a TT T38 on his 3dr (an MAD customer) and he made astonishing figures and the car was an animal.
IIRC he managed to squeeze out 490bhp and 410lbft

From a personal point if view, i couldnt get on with the TT T38 and traded it in for the UT T38 at that point id say it was the best setup id had, i loved the car and the way it behaved, it suited my driving style perfectly
