Mark
I fear you may be waisting your time
The club has gone over this issue SOOOOOOOO many times and every time its been a no go
IMO, if its a M sport version that left FORD as a complete car then no problems , BUT the 909 trimmed shells cant as they were sold as a trimmed shell NOT a complete road going car
How can you value a car when you arnt realy sure who built it and what parts they used
It seems so silly thou, let's be honest how is a build up any different to half the cars that have been restored or modded. All have been stripped down to shells and rebuilt in people private garages, and are not built by the factory how is a build up any different?
Plenty of people have restored there cars using parts from other cars repainting them before fitting them, or have engines built from new blocks or from other cosworth models.
It's very easy to value a 909 motorsport build up, we all know the price of parts and how to grade condition.
Surely you know how to value a RS500 built from a 909 shell?

Paul
If an RS500 is built with a Msport shell i wont value it unless the owner is aware it is going to be a much lower valuation that a std 500
Plus is will have to have the CORRECT rs500 chassie number , so this means it is a reshelled car
the Problem is Paul that owners of these 909 cars will expect high values and insurance companies will start being funny if the RSOC are giving these cars high values and i can see then not wanting to insure them , Like they do now with q plate cars
I had to get 3 indipendant valuations on my Caltex car before anyone would insure it
Surely they are only worth what they are worth, regardless of what the owner thinks. I do valuing houses for a living and I've upset plenty of deluded owners.. It comes with territory. But at the end of the day these cars do have a value whether it's the price in parts or scrap lol
Some of these rally cars with wrc engines and xtrac transmissions are far more valuable then even the most bufty esc cos out there

I agree
But is any RSOC regiatrar qualified to value them ??
I would be happy to value an ex BTCC car but i would think this was easier than doing a works spec escoss
I think an escort cosworth is an escort cosworth as long as it has an escort cosworth shell and the cosworth engine regardless of whether it is a 909 or whatever else. If we are into values it should be for insurance purposes mainly or a rough guide for selling based on condition . I personally look at car's on condition as it is more important than numbers (numbers and letters don't make it go better). Sure we all like originality but as Paul R says how many totally orignal examples are out there. I just love these old cars whether it is 909 a rally car or whatever else and as this is an escort cosworth forum I say Mark go ahead as people who own 909's or whatever treasure their cars as much as anybody else.

Im not saying your wrong

I bet None , there rally boys not window lickers
Your exactly right there ma friend, I for one would not be anywhere I was'nt welcome. That is why I happen to like this forum/club as it does not discrimanate, real car lovers who are passionate about this marque regardless of of it's origins. So big up to everyone on here

above is simply the undeniable truth
this discrimination against motorport/909 shells is like racism!
It is a weird one, a local guy who worked for Boreham built three in mid 90's...one went on a P plate as a road car, one went as a recce car on an N reg, the 3rd went as a road car on a Q plate...
The first two have been sold on many times, but the 3rd was owned by our cousins until two years ago. They had a terrible time trying to sell it and in the end it went to be broken for bits. All three as good as each other but just the plate made the difference.
To me if the manufacturer was happy to sell new trimmed shells and DVLA were happy to issue logbooks saying it's an Esc Cos then that's what it is, you can see what it is from a mile off anyway...
