Most people who stick with these tubby's and poo poo new technology like the GTX's ( just because they can't get them to work ) probably still think 7.0:1 is the best C/R for a cossie. Come on guys get with the 21st century!!!
I think it's funny that you think I am stuck in the past, just because I want something that is reliable and works .

My T4 maybe a T4 case, but it has a full roller-bearing core, a Mar-m 247 shaft and some detailed (secret ) porting to make it flow more. Now given it cost £2k, which would mean I COULD have had any turbo I wanted for that money, but I stuck with "Ye old faithful" , as it has been properly bullet-proof for the last 8 years, does that not suggest something? . It makes the numbers I want (I'm not interested in any more than around 500bhp), and I've been on T6 and Mountune roller-barrel inlet for years, none of this old single throttle body technology . If you find a better internally gated turbo, then I'd gladly have it, but the Borg Warner EFR range seems to fall apart at the moment .

I'm not poo-pooing any other turbo in the Garret range, just the GT35 / GTX35, which have a mismatch in turbine wheel / compressor wheel that necessitates adjusting the spec of the engine to stop it from surging. This (IMO) makes it unsuitable for a road car, as you deliberately move the boost threshold upwards to avoid the surge-line or cap the boost.

                    T4s for the win .

We were talking turbos ? Other than the issue with the wastegate shaft and bush being made out of stainless-steel (and binding at Donno, causing the wastegate to sieze open), my T4 has been absolutely faultless in 8 years . And even then, nothing has actually failed as such .

Only engine issues have been faulty crank (poor design ), cracking block (pushing the envelope on bore size) and failed oil spray jet .

Transmission issues have been front diff CWP failing (too much power) and front prop failing (damaging shit loads in the process).

All you have to do is go through my resto thread, everything is there for you to see (including photos ), so it's hardly difficult to find the things that have gone wrong .
